The Macra Terror
Written by: Ian Stuart Black 1st Aired: 11 Mar 67-1 Apr 67 Companions: Polly, Ben, JamieLocation: unnamed Earth colony The Doctor and his friends arrive on a planet just in time to inadvertently aid the capture of a distraught man, Medok, who claims to have a huge crablike creatures called the Macra. No one in the colony believes him, except the Doctor, whose actions allow Medok to escape. As the Doctor talks to the fugitive, gas and hypnotic commands are indoctrinating the Doctor's friends as they sleep. Polly and Jamie escape from the conditioning, but Ben now believes in the colony's ethic of work and obedience. All four of them are sent to the mines, where a mysterious gas is tapped. What is the connection between the gas and the Macra? The Doctor and Jamie are about to find out.
