Yartek
Leader of the Voords, one of the disparate races and cultures that inhabited the planet Marinus. He wanted absolute power of the planet and its people. Yartek had the Keeper of the Conscience, Arbitan, murdered. He assumed his place when the Doctor arrived, having collected the keys to the Conscience. Pretending to e the Keeper, Yartek told Sabetha, Arbitan's daughter, that the machine's power had hurt him, meaning that she could get close. Ian Chesterton also appeared to believe this story, giving Yartek the final key the Voord leader required. However, this was a fake and the Conscience exploded killing Yartek and many of his Voords in the blast. Yartek only appeared in The Keys of Marinus. |
