The War Machines
Written by: Ian Stuart Black 1st Aired: 25 Jun 66-16 Jul 66 Companions: Dodo, Polly, BenLocation: London, 1966 The Doctor finds danger in London's new General Post Office Tower, where a computer called WOTAN (Will Operating Thought ANalogue) as decided that humans must be slaves to the machines. First, it takes over the mind of the creator, Professor Brett, and soon even Dodo is its servant. As WOTAN prepares to take control of all the world's computers, its human slaves work to build armored robots called War Machines with which to attack Earth's major cities. Aiding the Doctor against this menace are a secretary named Polly (until she is taken over by WOTAN), a brave young seaman named Ben, and Sir Charles Summer-if he can be convinced that the threat is real.
