Arriving on a spaceborne Ark as it carries the last survivors of Earth and the gentle Monoids towards a distant planet, the Doctor and his friends must stop a disaster as Dodo's common cold begins to kill both Monoids and human Guardians, who have no resistance to such a disease (because all diseases had been cured). But the anger and suspicion the Doctor faces as he works to save the sick space travelers pales in comparison to the malevolence the Doctor finds when the Tardis materializes on the Ark again. Centuries have passed, an the Ark has nearly reached its destination. But now the humans are the Monoids' slaves!
