The Toymaker
He looks and dresses like a Chinese Mandarin, but the Celestial Toymaker is not from China, Earth, or even this universe. Immortal, indestructible and virtually all-powerful, he traps and uses other beings for his own amusement, forcing them to play a variety of games. Victorious players are set free, but the Toymaker cheats constantly to ensure that there are no victorious players. Losers become toys and dolls, to be employed as props for future games. In the Toymaker's only televised appearance ("The Celestial Toymaker"), he forces the Doctor to work a stacking puzzle called the trilogic game. His only other official appearance was in a script from the so-called missing season of the Sixth Doctor era, when the series was on hiatus. The Toymaker has also been in The Nightmare Fare Novel. |
