The Sontarans

The Sontarans are a cloned race of intelligent, beings from the planet Sontara, whose battle fleets waged a war against the equally warlike creatures, the Rutans (these are an amorphous creature from the planet Ruta. They have to recharge on electricity and they have the ability to change their form into any shape). The sontarans are very powerful and they recharge on energy. The Doctor first met the Sontarans in medieval England, and another in Earth's future. The Sontarans also attempted to invaded Gallifrey, but the Doctor stopped them.

The Sontarans on the at the top, are Styre (the most famous Sontaran that the Doctor met). On an Earth that had been made barren by solar flares, the Sontaran officer, tortured hi captive humans, including Sarah. They wanted to find out how strong humans were and what they need to live on. Styre was reporting all of his information back to his war fleet, in order to take-over Earth and set up a base there.

The Sontaran to the left is Linx (the first sontaran that the Doctor encountered). Linx was refered to as "toad-face" by Irongron, Linx was a marooned Sontaran officer . He had constructed a primitive spacecraft that had transported him to the twentieth century, and he had taken scientists back to the medieval period to repair his spaceship. As his ship took off, Linx was killed by an arrow which hit his probic vent (where the Sontarans energize).
