The Mind of Evil
Written by: Don Houghton 1st Aired: 30 Jan 71-6 Mar 71 Companions: Brigadier, Benton, Jo, YatesLocation: England, 1970s A.D. The Doctor and Jo go to Stangmoor Prison to see a demonstration of the Keller Machine, a device used to remove evil impulses from the human mind. Shortly after the device is used on prisoner named Barnham, a man dies alone in the room with the device, apparently after being attacked by rats. At a UNIT peace conference, papers are stolen from the Chinese delegation and the delegate is killed. The Doctor discovers th connection: Keller is the Master, with a scheme to start the next world war. The Keller machine is home to an alien mind parasite, which kills people by bringing their fears to life. Now the creature is out of control, and even the Master wants the Doctor to find a way to stop it.
