The Masque of Mandragora

The Mandragora Helix hides in the Tardis as it travels to San Martino, where the Doctor becomes involved in court intrigue. Aided by Hieronymous, the court astrologer, Count Federico has poisoned the old Duke and is now in control, leaving the new Duke, Giuliano, vulnerable to further treachery. Sarah is kidnapped by the cult of Demnos, while the Doctor is sentenced to death by Federico. Hieronymous is the leader of the cult and the acolyte of Mandragora and soon becomes the vessel of its power. Under Hieronymous's hypnotic influence, Sarah tries to kill the Doctor, and that's only the beginning. The castle is full of Italian scholars and their noble patrons, and they are all in danger. A lunar eclipse is due shortly, and that is when the Helix-imbued cultists will attack.
