Inferno

Hot green liquid from the shaft is transforming people into animal-like killing creatures, the computer predicts dire consequences until Stahlman sabotages it, and still Stahlman accelerates the drilling, denying nuclear power to the Doctor at a crucial moment in his own experiment with the Tardis console. The Doctor finds himself in another universe, where England is a fascist republic, Brigade Leader Lethbridge-Stewart wears a eyepatch and the Doctor is arrested as a saboteur. One thing remains the same-nobody seems to be able to prevent Stahlman or his counterpart from dooming their respective worlds to a fiery death.
