Edward Travers

Travers was a British explorer who mounted an expedition to Tibet during the 1930s to try and locate the Yeti, or Abominable Snowmen. He become involved in plan by the Great Intelligence to take over Earth, using service robots disguised as the Abominable Snowmen. When the Great Intelligence had been defeated, Travers took various artifacts back to London, including an undamaged Yeti robot along with one of its silver control spheres. Around forty years later, the Great Intelligence returned. Travers, aided by his scientist daughter Anne, joined forces with the military, led by a young colonel called Lethbridge-Stewart, to defeat the alien entity and the modified robot Yeti. The Great Intelligence set up a base of operations in the deserted London Underground network. Although briefly taken over by the Great Intelligence, Travers was instrumental in helping the Doctor dispatch their foe back into deep space, rendering the Yeti robots useless. Shortly after this, Travers and his daughter went to America, letting their home to a colleague.
