The Crusade
Written by: David Whitaker 1st Aired: 27 Mar 65-17 Apr 65 Companions: Ian, Barbara, VickiLocation: Palestine, 12th century The Doctor and his friends stumble upon an ambush of king Richard and his hunting companions by a group of Saracens. Richard escapes, but El Akir captures Sir William des Preaux and Barbara, and is tricked into thinking that they are actually the King and his sister Joanna. The Doctor and Ian help a wounded knight back to his camp and return a jeweled belt to the King. Ian is knighted by Richard, and sets off to rescue Barbara and Sir William, and to bring the Saracens a peace proposal from Richard: a marriage between their leader Saladin's brother and Joanna. But Joanna is not inclined to marry an infidel, and El Akir has his own cruel plans for Barbara.
