Carnival of Monsters
Written by: Robert Holmes 1st Aired: 27 Jan 73-17 Feb 73 Companions: JoLocation: planet Inter Minor Xenophobic officials on Inter Minor meet new arrivals Vorg and Shirna, entertainers and proprietors of a miniscope, an illegal device (thanks to the Doctor) in which, miniature creatures live and are available for viewing in realistic habitats. Meanwhile, the Tardis materializes on a 1920s Earth ship, the Bernice, whose inhabitants seem to be reliving part of the same day over and over. Eventually, the Doctor realizes the truth: he and Jo are inside he miniscope. Attempting to escape, they find their way into the habitat of some Drashings, fierce omnivores who follow them back through the scope towards the Bernice. An officer fights off a Drashing with explosives, which causes the scope to begin to fail. Inter Minor officials Kalik and Orum conspire to take over the planet by allowing the Drashings to escape and cause havoc. But they didn't count on Drashing ferocity, Vorg's past military training, or the ingenuity of the Doctor.
