The Ambassadors of Death
Written by: David Whitaker 1st Aired: 21 Mar 70-2 May 70 Companions: Brigadier, LizLocation: England, space, 1970s A.D. Space capsule Recovery 7 returns to Earth, but when it is opened the astronauts are gone and radiation levels are high. The Doctor and the Brigadier meet and astronaut called General Carrington, who claims that the astronauts are under quarantine with "contagious radiation." The Doctor thinks that the so-called astronauts are actually aliens in spacesuits. Liz is captured and made to help care for the radiation-dependent aliens. As a man named Reegan forces the aliens to kill humans ina series of raids, the Doctor takes recovery 7 back into space. He finds the astronauts alive, and learns that the aliens are ambassadors. The aliens threaten to destroy Earth unless they are returned. General Carrington, now in control of the Space Center, has a similar mad ambition to destroy the alien "invasion."
