Teachers Ian and Barbara follow one of their students, Susan Foreman "home" to a scrap merchant's junkyard. In the yard is a police call box and a strange old man seen walking towards it. When the teachers hear Susan's voice coming from the police box, they push their way in-and find themselves in the control room of the Tardis. Susan and her grandfather, the Doctor, reveal that they are from another world. Afraid that the teachers will tell others what they have seen, the Doctor sets the Tardis in motion. They land on Earth at a time when a few humans know how to make fire. The Doctor is kidnapped after a would-be tribal leader sees him light a match, and the others are soon captured as well. Even if they do make fire, it may not help them in the power struggle between Za, Kal and the Old Mother. Also known as "An Unearthly Child" and "The Tribe of Gum", "100,000 B.C is the correct title.
